Rhodochiton atrosanguineus is a quickly growing climber with heart-shaped leaves and stems that coil around any support. Although perennial in warm climates, in cooler areas it is usually grown as an annual, flowering from late summer until the first hard frost.
The flowers hang down on slender stalks with a bell-shaped, violet-pink calyx contrasting with almost black corolla, which has a long tube and five rounded lobes.
Bell vine is cultivated as an ornamental. This vigorous climber is perfect for a wall, trellis or pergola. Excellent for hanging baskets.
