Colorful perennial for cutting with long flowering time. Especially nice in colorful flower bouquets, for beds and borders.
Prune frequently to prolong flowering. Winter protection required in harsh locations.
Blanketflowers are generally very easy to grow. Most prefer sunny locations with well-draining, fertile soil. They have few pest and disease problems—though they can suffer crown or root rot if planted in poorly drained soil. They are wonderfully easy to design with and perfect for wildflower or rock gardens, sunny mixed borders or butterfly gardens. Their moderately salt tolerance also makes them well-suited to roadside plantings. Common blanketflower will gently self-sow.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
Sow inside from April to July or outdoors from April to June in cell plug trays filled with a growing medium that provides both good aeration and water-holding capacity or in the prepared flower bed outside. The seed should not be covered at sowing, as light is required for germination.
Germination will occur in 14-20 days at temperatures between +18-+22C.
Starting inside a germination chamber will increase both the germination rate and percent germination, while decreasing the time necessary for all of the seeds to sprout.
During the germination process it is important to keep the growing media uniformly moist but not wet. Once germinated, it can be grown with temperatures of +16-+20C. At these temperatures, it will finish the plug stage in approximately 5-7 weeks.
