A mixture of striking semi-double vivid blooms over bushy plants with fine attractive foliage.
The long flowering season makes them ideal for borders and patio tubs.
This cosmos dwarf mixture adds brilliancy to the summer garden with its jewel-like flowers of orange, red and yellow. These colorful plants are suitable as bedding annuals, in wildflower gardens, or for filling gaps in well-drained mixed borders.
The upright, branching stems of these bushy plants are lined with ferny, deeply divided, rich green foliage. They are topped throughout summer with numerous semi-double daisies in shades of yellow, golden-orange and flame red. The flowers are composed of broad yet delicate, somewhat fluted ray petals surrounding yellow centers, and are followed by sharp, star-like clusters of brown seeds. Butterflies will visit and flutter among the bright blooms.
Cosmos sulphureus is an annual that is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates dryish soils. Also tolerates poor soils. Avoid rich fertile soils because plants may grow too tall and flop over.
Deadhead spend flowers to prolong bloom. Taller plants may be cut back. Plants will sometimes self-seed, particularly if seed drops on bare ground. Self-seeding may rise to the level of being aggressive in some climates and conditions. Seed may be harvested in fall for planting the following spring.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
After danger of frost has passed, sow the seeds of these heat-loving, drought-tolerant annuals in full sun and moderately moist to somewhat dry, well-drained soil of low to modest fertility.
Avoid excessive water and fertilizer, as these can result in leggy growth and fewer flowers. Plants may begin declining by midsummer, but prolonged bloom display can be achieved by sowing seeds in succession.
Alternatively, the seeds of existing plants may be gathered and scattered on the ground.
They should germinate quickly, resulting in fresh blooms by late summer to fall.
