A fast-growing Mexican native annual.
Excellent as bedding plants, edgers (along paths, walkways and border fronts) and container plants (hanging baskets, window boxes, urns or other containers). Also effective in rock gardens.
Panicles of blue-to-violet flower heads arise from oval, downy leaves in midsummer and continue until frost. They have a soft, fuzzy appearance and attract butterflies.
Grows well in ordinary garden soil. Requires a sheltered position in full sun.
This species is not hardy in the colder areas of the country, it tolerates temperatures down to between -5 - 10C.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
Surface sow March-April in a light position in a greenhouse. Do not cover the seed but press into the soil.

The seed usually germinates in 1 - 3 weeks at +20C.
When large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out and plant them out after the last expected frosts.
