This wonderful small to medium-sized annual from South Africa produces clusters of two-lipped flowers in yellow, purple, or white. The flowers often bear purple veins, yellow throats, and a bearded lower lip. The lance-shaped leaves are medium green.
This annual dislikes heat and humidity and is best in moderate temperatures, flowering nearly year round in mild climates. It prefers moist rich soil and lots of sun.
It makes an excellent addition to any border, bed, or container, and combines well with bulbs and rock garden plants. Flowers are good for cutting, which also encourages bushy growth. If given enough sunlight and moderate night time temperatures, nemesia can be grown as a houseplant.
Cut back for a second time for a second flowering time in late summer.
