Who doesn't love this colorful, easy-to-grow garden perennial? Purple coneflower is a hardy herbaceous wildflower native to the eastern United States. In early to late summer, it bears tall, sturdy stems topped with single large purple daisies. Bloom time may be extended if spent flowers are removed, or deadheaded.
This dependable garden staple self-sows freely but not too aggressively.
Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Best in full sun.
An adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil.
Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (about every 4 years). Plants usually rebloom without deadheading, however prompt removal of spent flowers improves general appearance. Freely self-seeds if at least some of the seed heads are left in place.
Approximately 100 seeds in 1 g packet.
