Brightly coloured pincushion heads above crisp green foliage. A real magnet to butterflies and bees, great in 'cottage garden' borders or as a lasting cut flower.
This popular annual gets its common name of from its long, gray stamens that protrude like "pins" from the dense "cushion" of the flower.
A short-lived perennial but I always treat it as an annual, sowing new seed every year - is the most miraculous performer in any garden.
This charming and easy perennial grows best in full sun and fertile well-drained acid to alkaline soil. Deadhead regularly to encourage continued bloom and to prevent self-sowing.
A splendid companion for summer-blooming campanulas, veronicas, foxgloves, and verbascums, it is a natural for perennial borders and cottage gardens.
The blooms are perfect for cutting.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
Sow indoors or outdoors from March to May directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered.
Cover with 5 mm of fine soil.
Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days at +18-+21C. Check once a day for any sign of green. Once up, they'll need cool air and maximum light.
