Petunia hybrids are one of two main classes of petunias. Grandiflora means large flowered. Developed in the early 1950s, petunia grandiflora hybrids are a versatile annual. They are prized in the home garden for their large, bright blooms and low maintenance.
This flower blooms in large (up to 6 cm in diameter) salmon color flowers. It grows up to 60 cm tall, with trailing stems and showy blossoms with straight or ruffled edges.
It is a single flower variety - it has one set of petals.
Petunia hybrids are hardy in U.S. Department of Agriculture zones 9 and 10, but they can grow successfully in nearly any zone that has cool to moderate summers and lots of sunlight. Grandifloras do not like heat or humidity. Although these plants can tolerate several hours of shade each day, take care to ensure that these plants get as much light as possible and provide adequate wind cover. Water the soil to a depth of 15 cm when the soil becomes dry. Grandifloras need only enough water to keep the soil moist.
Cut back stems to about 15 cm at mid-season when the plants become scraggly.
Pinching the plants can increase bloom stems and discourage vegetative growth. Pinching a flower means to snap off the last inch of the main growing stem during the stage prior to the first flower buds forming, when growth is vigorous. This removes the growth bud at the end of the main stem and encourages more buds to bloom. Removing dead blooms when they begin to fade also encourages re-blooming.

When planting outdoors, wait until soil temperatures reach at least +15C, and there is no chance of frost.
Plant young transplants at the same depth they were in their containers, and space about ~20 cm apart.
