A melliferous perennial plant, perversely called a viper, because it can be used as an antidote for viper venom, reaches a height of 100-150 cm. Inflorescences form an upright dense bunch.
Purple-blue flowers with four rod-shaped, red stamens. Small bell-shaped flowers are as the magnet for bees and butterflies.
It looks good in mixed beds with field flowers.
